Feature Film Course

“During the HFS course you will audition several times and be selected for a role in an professional feature film”

There are two main elements to our courses: the mentoring from experienced film industry profesional instructors, and working in an actual movie on a paid basis whilst continuing to be mentored.

HFS has made it possible thanks to its close association with several production companies, Studios and first class educational institutions.

  Empowering Talent

Everyone in Hollywood likes to discover new talent, but few are prepared to take the financial risk involved in doing so. HFS has bridged that gap in an innovative and exciting new way.

Auditions

Very soon after the course commences you will receive coaching on how to audition by casting directors; and, with their help, you will audition for the roles in the feature film chosen for your class. All the students in each class will be given roles to fulfill the casting and crew requirements for the selected movie.

You will have the opportunity to audition for as many roles as you like, giving you plenty of practical experience in this most important aspect for starting a professional career in the film industry.

Mentoring

During all this time of course you will receive tips and valuable feedback from your instructors. Remember, your instructors are all working professionals who are always on the look out for new talent – this is another aspect of great consequence for those enrolled in our courses.

Feature Film Production

Once your roles have been determined, the rest of Pre-production [8 weeks] will continue: budgeting, scheduling, story boarding, rehearsals, set design, location scouting, etc. etc. All students will be given complementary roles for the movie in production.

Production will be full on for the following 4-6 weeks. Expect to work long hours, get tired, receive plenty of on-the-set coaching from your mentors AND have lots of fun!
During Post-production [8-10 weeks], whilst editors cut the movie, actors will do some ADR, Foley, publicity shots, interviews and promotions. Together with crew members they will produce trailers and pick-up on missing shots.

All students will also be involved in the marketing and distribution of the finished movie, another key aspect of our courses, as it will provide plenty of opportunities to gain publicity and industry exposure.

Red Carpet Premiere

The course will finish after an incredible seven months crowned with your very own Red Carpet Premiere screening of the finished movie to paying audiences at an exclusive Cinema. This will be followed by a jubilant graduation ceremony. Agents, Studio Acquisition Executives, Media and other industry figures will also be invited to your red-carpet stroll.

In Summary:

We mentioned that our courses have two elements: the mentoring and the production work. For the production work you will do during the course, you will be paid Guild minimum rates by the production company producing the film chosen for your class.

The film will be a low budget Guild HD Digital feature; hence you will receive credits towards your optional Guild accreditation membership.

Given the uniqueness of our course outcomes, its intensity and quality tuition, you may also gain credits towards further graduate and/or post-graduate qualifications offered by other academic institutions.
